Said storm is resulting is some pretty nice snow in the mountains here in NW Montana.

Ignorant flatlander question here. Do they chain the cars down, or are they just relying on park and brakes to keep them on the boat? Even chained down that would be terrifying, but with blue water on the deck if the car wasn’t chained down that would be enough to give me nightmares for decades.

On the puget sound ferry’s they don’t chain them down. Usually the water that close to seattle is pretty calm. If you go further out then it gets a bit rougher.
